When Words Speak Louder Than Skills

For over 15 years, I walked into interviews with confidence. Not arrogance—just a deep knowing of my skills, my experience, my value. Offer letters would follow. Not one, but sometimes two or three. I had the luxury of choosing.

I never imagined the day would come when rejection would knock—again and again—not because I had lost my touch, but because I didn’t speak the local language fluently.

Yes, I could communicate. Yes, I understood. Yes, I could collaborate. But suddenly, my years of experience in IT, digital marketing, project management, and creative innovation were no longer enough. The language I didn't speak seemed louder than the skills I had mastered.

It's disheartening—watching skilled professionals being overlooked, while others, average in capability but fluent in local speech, are favored.

Let me be clear—I respect every language, every culture. Local language is important. But not at the cost of ignoring brilliance, innovation, and hard-earned expertise. We don't always have to speak with words. Sometimes, our work speaks louder.

All I ask: Value skill. Respect expertise. Give talent a chance.
